Inpatient Malignant Hematology

This would be considered an inpatient acute care rotation with emphasis in malignant hematology

I am happy to precept for anyone who may be interested in liver diseases.

Oncology

Clinical Nurse Specialist offering preceptorship in oncology patient population: inpatient solid tumor, inpatient surgical-oncology, outpatient GU oncology, outpatient GYN oncology

Duke Homecare servicing approximately 425 patients with wounds and ostomies. The CNS student will have the opportunity to work in all three spheres - patient, nursing staff and systems - while also learning about the role of the Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse.

I work both in the office, seeing patients in their homes, and remotely. I have had a CNS students in the past, meeting one day per week in the office and this worked well.

Hospice

I visit hospice patients wherever they may live -- their homes, nursing homes or assisted living facilities -- to ensure comfort, treat symptoms, and assess for continued eligibility to hospice. This preceptorship involves a lot of geriatric assessment, but probably less treatment decisions than other preceptorships.

Nephrology

Ideally the student should be interested in nephrology and in the care of those with chronic and end-stage renal disease.
